Emission-free Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Electric Drive to sell for $538,625
The three-pointed-star German automobile brand, Mercedes-Benz has now finally rolled out the ‘world’s most powerful series production electric car’, dubbed as the SLS AMG Coupé Electric Drive. The very idea of an electricMercedes-Benz SLS AMG which was originally introduced publically as the SLS AMG E-Cell prototype back in 2010, is now complete with this Electric-Drive version, whose market launch will commence in June 2013 at a price tag of $538,625, making it one of the world’s most expensive electric cars. As one of the ultra-exclusive highlights of the Mercedes-Benz, the SLS AMG Electric Drive was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show 2012, where Britain’s Rolls-Royce Motor Cars also presented the Rolls-Royce Art-Deco Inspired cars. Described by Mercedes-Benz as the most powerful vehicle in the AMG stable, this Electric Drive gullwing with blue chrome finish comes equipped with 4 compact electric motors, which produces a combined 740 horsepower, enabling it to sprint to 250 km/h and achieving 0 to 100 km/h in a whip of just 3.9 seconds, along with lithium-ion high-voltage battery that has an energy content of 60 kWh with a voltage of 400 volts.

The liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery of the SLS AMG Coupé Electric Drive, consists of 12 modules with 72 lithium-ion cells, totaling 864 cells, has an energy content of 60 kWh, with an electric load capacity of 600 kW and has a weight of 548 kg.
Further, it gets charged in just three hours with a special wall box with 22kw, and without the wall box, the Electric Drive charges in about 20 hours.
