Haven’t you heard? Strawberries are so last season, darling. At least, that’s the verdict of Möet & Chandon, which is championing the pineberry as its fruit of choice for spring/summer 2012.
You’d be forgiven for being unfamiliar with the pineberry (also known as the ‘albino strawberry’) – a small, white, exotic fruit with the shape and texture of a strawberry but with a flavour more akin to a pineapple.
So why the sweet switch-up?
Möet’s Emelie De Vitis explains: “We wanted to challenge the status quo and look at fruits that could rival strawberries as the Champagne complement of choice this summer. The pineberry is a natural choice because it is related to the strawberry but offers a unique taste – combined with a glass of Moet & Chandon Champagne, it really is the perfect serve!”
