Rolls-Royce Ghost Six Senses Concept From The Beijing Auto ShowPosted: May. 10th, 2012 | |

No, this Rolls doesn’t see dead people. It’s a Ghost that sees people wrapped in even more bespoke richness than the usual uber-sedan.
|
||
Or, as Rolls-Royce puts it in inimitably over-the-top fashion, Ghost Six Senses Concept is “a highly-bespoke luxury model that encapsulates the richness of experience that comes as standard with any Rolls-Royce and takes it to a new level of sensory indulgence.” Because there’s not enough sensory indulgence in a standard Ghost. Or something like that. |
||
Whatever the reason, however, the Six Senses Concept is undeniably luxurious, seeking to entertain all of the five sensory organs while providing a Rolls-born sixth that it sucks from the souls of its craftspeople–because after all, anyone can own a car; few can own the souls of those that made it. |
||
So how does it engage the senses? For sight, the concept is painted in Carrara White pearl, wearing unique forged alloy wheels, coach doors, Walnut Burr veneer interior trim, and other bespoke touches to the cabin. Sound is evoked with a concept audio system with a set of special “exciter” speakers in the headliner. Aroma comes from the rich scent of the leather, and the “woody spice” of the walnut veneer. |
||
Taste is from the drink’s compartment, where champagne can be cooled, then served with the included flutes. Finally, the sense of touch is stimulated with the textures of the materials, including lambswool rugs and a lambswool trunk liner, the supple leathers, and the sleek chromes and woods. |
||
The Rolls-Royce Ghost Six Senses Concept was on display at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show, and while it’s not headed to production—which is the eternal foe of bespoke, after all—it does offer a look at what a well-heeled Ghost buyer might have done for their own car. |

Men These Are Must-Have Moccasins, Robb Report
The Must-Have Moccasins
JULY 04, 2012
The tried-and-true moccasin is back for summer in many stylish variations. It’s soft, lightweight, and comfortable, and it’s the perfect finishing touch for any outfit from business casual attire to jeans and a T-shirt. We’ve uncovered some of the best handmade leather moccasins at Leffot, a specialty men’s footwear store in New York’s West Village. These three brands feature sleeker, more polished designs compared to their fringe-trimmed predecessors.
- Rancourt & Co., a family-run company out of Lewiston, Maine, that has been making moccasins for three generations (since 1964), features the hard-soled Camp Moc in black or brown polished leather or navy suede for a more dressy version of the classic shoe. ($210, www.rancourtandcompany.com)
- The 100-year-old brand Quoddy, also based in Lewiston, Maine, has created a Boat Moc, a boat shoe–type style built like a traditional moccasin. Each pair is sewn by one person from start to finish, using Horween leathers and Vibram soles, which make for exceptionally lightweight and flexible shoes. ($300, www.quoddy.com)
- Leffot offers a European take with its own brand of Driving Moccasins, made in its factory in Italy. The shoes—which feature an upturned toe, a thin sole, and an optional tassel on the font—come in a series of colors, including a whimsical purple pair, in suede for summer and in leather for fall. ($325, www.leffot.com)
All pairs are made to order and require three to 12 weeks to produce.

Today’s Recipe: Baked Chicken with Cherry Tomatoes, Herbs and Lemon, Williams-Sonoma
Today’s Recipe: Baked Chicken with Cherry Tomatoes, Herbs and Lemon
When the temperatures rise, we crave light main meals that can be assembled and cooked in 30 minutes or so. Here, tender chicken breasts are baked to bring out their peak flavor, and topped with sweet cherry tomatoes and tart lemons. If you like, you can omit the tarragon and sage and top the finished dish with fresh basil and parsley leaves lightly drizzled with olive oil.
Baked Chicken with Cherry Tomatoes, Herbs and Lemon
6 1/2 tsp. olive oil
4 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves (about 5 oz each)
8 oz. cherry or grape tomatoes, halved
1 1/2 tsp. balsamic vinegar
1/2 tsp. sea salt
freshly ground pepper, to taste
1 lemon, cut into 8 thin slices
6-8 fresh tarragon sprigs
8-10 fresh sage leaves
Directions
Preheat oven to 375°F. Lightly grease a baking dish with 2 teaspoons of olive oil.
Place chicken in prepared baking dish. Arrange tomatoes around chicken. Drizzle chicken and tomatoes with vinegar and 2 1/2 teaspoons of olive oil. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
Top each chicken breast half with 2 lemon slices. Arrange tarragon sprigs and sage leaves over and around chicken. Drizzle remaining 2 teaspoons of olive oil over herbs.
Bake until chicken is opaque throughout, 25-30 minutes. Arrange a chicken breast on each of 4 plates, spooning equal amounts of tomatoes and herbs around each. Drizzle with some pan juices and serve right away. Serves 4.
$30M PH in Jennifer Aniston’s Old Building on the Market
$30M PH in Jennifer Aniston’s Old Building on the Market
It’s shaping up to be a big weekend for eight-figure condos. 299 West 12th Street once represented the culmination of Jennifer Aniston’sHomeric apartment search (she moved out less than a year later.) Now, the crown jewel of the Emory Roth-designed Bing & Bing Building has, for the first time, entered the market, and it is really something. The triplex penthouse contains thirteen rooms in its 4,050 square feet of interior space and also includes 2,425 square feet of terraces because, sure, that seems like a reasonable amount of terraces. It’s asking$30,000,000. Other ridiculous features include the 432-square-foot great room (used to be a ballroom; currently a bedroom), the atrium, the library, and, well, just about everything. Did we mention the 2,425 square feet of terraces? If there’s ever been an apartment that’s actually worth $30M, this might be it.
